Harvest Festival

Posted by Crafty Head on November 26, 2010

We love to go to these festivals. I use to go to all these rides now one spin and I am almost dead. :) I rather play with my little camera.  I had fun trying different techniques that I could not try for a long time.

Here are few shots of the same rides, each one have a different look.

Here still had some day light so I wanted to compare with the others to see each one I like best.  Below you see that the night is coming.

Here is a little tip for these rides pictures. Look the back of this one the Ferris Wheel lights are off so you need to check because some rides the lights keep blinking. Below you see that I waited to get the shot when all the lights are on.

Here a little closer to see the motion of both.

I love the colors here . I thought this sign was so cute too!  Free Fish Babysitting ;)

Oh Boy! Alien Abduction, this ride is TERRIBLE! All closed, dark and you spin at 2000???rpm? but the kids had a blast!

See the inside (gladly showing from the outside).

I will post more pics tomorrow. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Crème Brûlée

Posted by Crafty Head on November 25, 2010

Nature Beauty!

Posted by Crafty Head on November 18, 2010

This plant is in our backyard for a few years since we bought this house. Never saw any color on it. All the sudden boom! What a pleasure to see it this way. Funny that  Bougainvillea  is native from my country(Brazil) and other south america places but it really remember me of  Malindi, Africa while living there I always was impressed how they kept them so beautifully. Close to Malindi I use to go to this restaurant in Watamu Beach and over there even more amazing colors. They did not grow them as a little tree like I show here but was more flat on the floor and you walk around these gigantic purple, red carpets overlooking the blue ocean. Really Pretty!

She is ready for Xmas!

Posted by Crafty Head on November 18, 2010

I bought this ballerina some time ago and saw that it can be very versatile. I wanted to play dress up with her. Well maybe I needed a little girl too! :) I really like anything related to dance…

So I tought since Christmas is next month I need to start to decorate. I got some  ribbon, christmas colors.

Here is the ballerina first dress up.  is not she cute?

I really like to modify things. Go ahead look in your house I am sure you can find at least one thing that you can give a new look, have lots of fun with your kids/family without breaking the bank. hugs

Before and After.

Posted by Crafty Head on November 18, 2010

Did I tell you I am spraying stuff around here?  Here are some pics of the ones I just finished. These are the ones that I posted before, I am rushing because I want to start my next to do list which is very big and I am already late for it. I rushed the sanding on the Birdcage, should be done a little more smooth… Not the time to go smooth on things right now! :)

#1 Before just wood color.

I decided to paint just the outside. I left the inside the original color and made a little bow for it. The ribbon orange to match the room. See detail below.

I keep markers inside.

This green container I bought at Michaels and is what I use to hold my Glimmer Mists. I like it but not in this color for the room here.

I went for a crazy distressed look! LOL

This birdcage needed more sanding because had some rust.

Do you think I am painting here?  No way! Just applying some rub-ons.  I think these rub-ons are so cute and match the feeling I wanted for this little cage. The rub-ons are from imaginisce and is called Catch a Flutterby.

After I spray paint and it is dry I always use some sanding at the end to make it more distressed or shabby chic?  To me the fresh paint always look too flat.

Spray time!

Posted by Crafty Head on November 17, 2010

I was waiting to get this done, finally got organized and started to paint a bunch of little things that I wanted to paint for a long time.  Except the old bird house that I just found for only 3 bucks but  the color is not exactly what I wanted, very easy to fix that though. All these are for my craft room which colors are orange and white. I am sure those cans will not be enough, I guess I will need to run to wallmart again. I will show you when I am done. Sorry the bad light for this pic.

Family Fair

Posted by Crafty Head on November 17, 2010

We try to find some time to spend close to nature because we just relax and have fun that way. We went to this family fair this weekend at the Fruit and Spice Park in Homestead, FL. They have some amazing tropical plants and fruit tree. It is a place not to miss if you like that type of stuff. I am from a tropical place, love plants but I always learn so much each time I go there. They have a guided tour and also classes. Here are some pics of our last visit there. Can’t wait to go back.

How cute is that? I love the colors!

They had a very yummy strawberry +banana +caramel crepe!!

My son did like to shop here and even bought a surprize little gift for me with his own money.

They also had all kind of fresh spices, this was my hubby shopping time. While he was picking… I was speaking portuguese with the lady there, she was also from Brazil. I asked for her business card so when we need more of these we know who to call and I can even speak my native language. :)  He got fresh Paprika for a Italian Pasta he likes to make. It is delicious! But fresh ingredients make a huge difference.

Arts/crafts for kids. They received a pot, painted and planted their choice of herbs. That was cute and educational! They learned about the seeds and how to grown each one. He decided on purple basil, tomatoes and beans. If they grow we just need the buffalo mozzarela and we can make a nice caprese!

Was not easy to choose what to plant, so many choices.

Just Few days old! Lovable!

They did not know I was taking the picture. :) The corn was so delicious! Everyone was eating these. We will definately go to the next one.

Halloween Crafts

Posted by Crafty Head on October 14, 2010

We did enjoy creating some halloween stuff for our home and friends.
I will post some of the things we did this year. Some are more elaborated but others are very quick to finish.

My son did this one!

I wanted to give him some blood so I added the red glitter.

The stamping was kind of plain so I added the little orange bling.
